The boundaries were compiled by clipping from the county-wide set of legal descriptions for each city. Legal descriptions were interpreted without assumption of intent or bias from any pre-existing maps. Spatial registration conforms to features in the Snohomish County Integrated Land Records (ILR) data set. Information captured include the boundary of each individual annexation, the effective date of the annexation and the reference to the insturment authorizing the annexation. This data set provides the true legal boundary for Mukilteo and provides historical reference for when a given geographic area became part of an incorporated city. It is created by processing the muni_annex data set for only those annexations that are current. Muni_annex was created by compiling all the legal descriptions and map data for all authorizing documents from incorporation to the present for each of the 20 cities in Snohomish County. The legal descriptions were then interpreted against the Integrated Land Records (ILR) mapping base as the control line work. Any line work required that did not exist in the ILR was added using coordinate geometry.
